Snapshots of a ride

Panorama of Brandon from the North HIll

I took my camera on a 27-km bike ride around town. Here’s what I got.

Bike ride birds

Red-winged blackbird

I biked about 12km this afternoon, and I took my camera along with me. I saw some geese (so many geese) and what I think was a red-winged blackbird.

Down by the river

Dead, barren tree

I went for a short bike ride today, after I finished work: over the bridge and down to the riverbank. I managed to get a couple photos of a kayaker enjoying the weather, and I’m trying to decide which one I like better. I think I like the closer-in one, though I wish I’d focused it better. (Looking at it again, maybe I could lie and tell people I meant it to be an impressionistic image.)

(Actually, they’re both crops of the same photo.)

I also got a photo of one of the trees that died in the 2011 flood, with the new crop of willows visible behind it. That one’s at the top of this post.

Bike ride

Panorama on Grand Valley Road

On the weekend I rode a bit over 20km. I didn’t have my Canon with me, but my phone’s camera is pretty decent. I really liked how the basketball hoop turned out; I have something of a thing for entropy and abandoned spaces, and this shot made my ride for me.

Bike Ride

It’s a long weekend Monday here in Canada, so I went for a nice long bike ride today. 23km and change, in a bit under two hours. There was quite a wind out of the east, so I’m happy with that time.

I had my camera with me, and so I snapped a couple photos: a goose landing in the river, above, and a train under the 1st Street bridge, below.

Train under the 1st Street Bridge

I didn’t get a photo of the family in the not-yet-open splash park on 1st Street south of Richmond (Kinsmen Park, I think), making do with a water-gun fight.
